Gentlemen,

Just to keep you informed as to where our site stands .

The Brassmen were AGAINST , getting rid of the "tick for error" method of judging.
What happens when you have only " build up " captions, is that the whole game of judging now becomes ones " opinion " ?

Anyway, our problem with the direction that drum corps is going , has little to do with the B flat vs. G instruments issue or show presentation, or how corps are being judged , etc.

Please read editorial written by my website partner , Harold Barber.  (Note from the Webmaster ... This article is featured on our "SPEAK OUT" forum page)

This editorial will soon be posted on our site. I would hope that you would join with us in expressing your site's opinion and where do you stand ?

Thanks, Reg Henry - for www.stritasbrassmen.org

..... "The original concept of judging Drum Corps by the points system no longer exists. At this time, Drum Corps are strictly for entertainment purposes (like stage plays). No longer do the Corps receive point deductions from, such as, on-line inspections, musical & marching execution by drums, horns and the Guard, but judges do voice grading thru audio cassettes.  I think it's a travesty and doesn't reflect a true evaluation of sections musical and marching skills.  The current music some Corps are playing to tell me that some of their compositions are strictly made up within the Corps compared to 1953 thru 1989.  (Let's recognize the tunes)  However, I consider the drills are very much original and praiseworthy.  I still prefer listening and watching Senior Drum Corps (like the Royal Airs)."
