Mike Boo is an old-timer and columnist for DCI. I sent him a
request for info on any proposed addition of woodwinds on the field,
something that we all feel would ruin the activity (more than it
already has been for some). Here's his response. I've also suggested that he contact Reg Henry or Harold Barber if
he wants someone to write a piece in his column about what it was like
back in the day.

A bunch of old-timers are up in arms about the possibility of woodwinds being introduced into mainstream DCI. I believe that the proposal for woodwinds in I&E was voted down at committee meetings in January, correct? What's the current status on the subject?
This is Mike Boo's response:
The proposal for woodwinds on the field wasn't even brought to discussion. The I&E woodwind thing didn't require a committee vote as it wasn't a rules change for the field but an attempt to reach out to those in drum corps who would like to compete in I&E but don't do so before they're not playing their major instrument. I expect woodwinds to stay in their own little corner at I&E and have not heard anything more about the subject as far as them entering the field.
Would you like to try writing a column for Fanfare about what it was like being in corps just as DCI was being formed? I would love to see something about how different things were then.
